Online Consortium
The Online Consortium (OC) is a cost-recovery, membership driven service for BC schools. It is designed to make online learning accessible, cost effective, easy to use, and all-inclusive, Open School BC contributes a team of technical professionals as well as a comprehensive information systems infrastructure to the OC.
The OC provides members access to WebCT Campus Edition, a state-of-the-art Learning Management System used by institutions around the world. Built on a strong technical foundation, WebCT Campus Edition includes a Virtual Course Environment with a complete set of tools for course preparation, delivery and management, resulting in an e-learning system that is easy to use, innovative, and reliable. For teachers and students it is as easy as using a web browser.
WebCT is an advanced system designed to manage online learning that includes:
- my grades (for students to view their assignments, marks etc.)
- student presentations (forum for viewing and editing projects)
- student tracking
- grade book management
- internal communication systems
- chat
- whiteboard
- discussion forums
OC Online Admin tools help members implement online learning by providing:
- course instance requests
- student, class, and course management
- reporting tools (at individual, school or school district levels)
- the ability for educators to deliver their own courses
The OC provides school districts the freedom to build an online program that fits their students, their teachers, and their budget.
