Licensing
Intellectual Property
"Intellectual property" consists of non-physical assets and includes
the rights to use, reproduce, market and distribute "intellectual"
works. Intellectual property includes copyrights, trade-marks, patents
and industrial designs.
Provincial ministries
are encouraged to make available Province-owned intellectual property
to the private sector, and thereby further economic development
and job creation in British Columbia.
The
Intellectual Property Program provides assistance to ministries
wishing to license properties with commercial potential. Assistance
is provided for:
- selection
of a private sector licensee.
- negotiation
of the license agreement.
- administration
of the license agreement throughout its term.
- the occasional
sale, of government-owned intangible property.
