City of Vancouver Building By-law 2007 (VBBL)

The Vancouver Building By-law 2007 (VBBL) is a modified version of the BC Building Code 2006 that includes design and construction requirements unique to the City of Vancouver, British Columbia. The British Columbia Building Code 2006, in turn, is a modified version of the National Building Code of Canada 2005.

The VBBL has established a standard of safety for the design and construction of buildings, including additions or alterations, buildings undergoing a change of major occupancy, upgrading of buildings to remove an unacceptable hazard, and demolition of existing buildings.

In addition to regulating the design and construction of buildings in Vancouver, the VBBL also regulates administrative provisions to do with permitting, inspection, and enforcement of construction requirements.

Part 7 of the VBBL contains Plumbing Services, which provides the requirements for the design and installation of plumbing systems in buildings in the City of Vancouver.
